George,
You posed the question;

'Should we not now agree with Antonio de Figueredo, Basil Davidson, Claude Ake, Thandika Mkadawire, Adebayo Olukoshi, Samir Amin, Kwesi Prah, Micere Mugo and other African revisionist scholars that Africa's real political and development problem lies in copying the wrong borrowed Western models?'

I tend to differ and of course disagree with the above question.
I would like to mention that, a bad leader is born to be and a good leader is born to be. Many a people say that, Africans mismanagement, political uproar, human right abuses and many more pluguing the continent is due to Western interference.
I am a Cameroonian and have studied, lived and working with the Westerners. Based on hand-on-experience, I do not see anything wrong with them. The Westerners are just a honest group of people, hardworking, industrious and good managers.
What I have noticed in the West is that, Africans who study in the West are of different categories;

-Those that are interactive and willing to learn new things in the Western society.
-Those that are just happy to be loaded with Western certificates to take back home...Africa, to use them and intimidiate their fellow country men.

To be honest, any African who studies in the West on scholarship has not gotten the opportunity to know more about the westerner. Those Africans who have studied on self-sponsorship in the West stand a better chance to asses the Westerner. what is clear about a Westerner is that, he or she treats you depending on your awareness. If a Westerner discovers you know your civil right, know your job, has respect for others, you will never see anything wrong with him or her.
On the contrary, if he or she sees that, you are ignorant then, you are bound to be exploited, I think, this is a general human tendency.

Back to your article;

Charles Taylor was organising rallies in the United states opposing Doe, when he..Taylor was studying in the states. Doe called Taylor to join and work in his government, the only good thing Taylor did to the Doe's government was to siphon state funds to his private account in the states.
After accummulating private wealth, from Doe's government, he could see himself being a political leader. He stood against Doe, based on his academic background, many Liberians thought, he could be a good choice to salvage their economic malice. Immediately, he was given the opportunity to mount the presidential podium, the Taylor who was preaching economic reforms in his campaign slogans became a state tyrant, killing, enslaving and dispersing his own poeple.After destroying and tearing apart human being and nature in Liberia, it was not enough, he had to extend his tyrannical tentacles to the entire region propagating strong waves of civil war across Sierra-Leone, Congo Democratic, Angola and many more.The suffering masses were abandoned in the eyes of other African leaders. At this point, it was not a westerner who came to inflict sufferings to the people.
I would like to take you back to Cameroon, our beloved country. Cameroon has the potential to grow judging from all angles. Now, you can see that, the regime in power has wasted 24 years of development, enslaving, torturing and dividing its own people. Now, we have adarmantly, refused to grow, we spend time fighting amongst ourselves. A Southwesterner calling a Northwesterner a foreigner in the same country, where both own citizenship and civil right. Jobs are not given based on merits , ministers sit in the offices and dictate enrolment in faculties. People have no access to good water, medical attention, and many more.
Is it a Westerner who is ruling Cameroon?
Is a Westerner who has divided Cameroon into groups?
Is it a Westerner who tells managers, directors, ministers to embezzle and siphon state funds?
We are building a pressure in the country,if this presure degenerates into an uncontrollable situation,we start pointing fingers at the West.
I think, we the African Race have to accept our errors, correct them ,stand up and develop our continent.
By 6.00 am,a Cameroonian is in the beer parlour talking dirty politics and swallowing huge bottles of beers, at that same time, a Westerner is reading his newspaper and preparing for work.
It is difficult for a Cameroonian to sit in the office for 8 hours, while these 8 hours are minimium working time for a Westerner.
So, where do will start comparing?
I will be glad if you can write some article illustrating on Africans like Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyere to show some examples to other African leaders.

What ever the case, I must admit that, I enjoy your article but just wanting us as Africans, to be patrotic, honest, hardworking, transparent, responsible, and accountable.

cheers man!!
